So, the first chapter starts with Alloria and her friend already on an adventure. It feels like we have missed a chapter or something but as you keep reading they talk about how they got there. Basically, Alloria has a magic pendant that lets her enter the labyrinth and travel to other worlds. Bainsberry, a huge man with a disfigured face, makes friends with Alloria and underneath his scary appearance, he’s a kind man.
*Small Spoiler Ahead* Alloria goes home through the labyrinth to find her Dad bleeding to death on the floor and her Mum kidnapped. She has to decide whether to go to the village which is three days away or go through the labyrinth to get Bainsberry. Going through the labyrinth takes time but they don’t know how much.
Alloria’s choice leads to an adventure. It’s not her initial choice that bothers but what she does afterwards in regards to her parents that I get annoyed about. It doesn’t seem like something a child would do when their parents are injured.
I give it 3/5
